I spent a lot of years at war with myself, uncomfortable with being labeled a “stay at home mom”, I set out to make certain I had a prestigious career. I worked myself crazy through college and law school. I was almost 30 before I had my first baby…only then to discover I really MISSED being at home with my kids. So, I quit my job and settled into yoga pants and a messy bun.
Ahh, sweet #momlife.⠀
Hold on, though.
Never ending crumbs, play dates and that insidious Elmo? They began to wear on me too. I wasn’t challenged in the way I needed to be. Legos, Blues Clues and playdough were slowly eroding my brain cells. Should I go back to work? The 70 hour work-weeks as an attorney were not a thing I was anxious to get back to. Were these my only 2 options—corporate slavery or mind-numbing mommy monotony?
Society has a way of painting women with so many stupid labels. “sexy” “bitchy” “fat” “stay-at-home mom” “working mom” “real woman” “hormonal” “skinny” “curvy”… If you are like me, you’re sick of labels. It’s not something we should have to craft our identities around.⠀
Maybe you grew up with an aversion to being too athletic for fear of being labeled “manly” or maybe you learned to never speak up for concern of being labeled “bossy”? I spent a lot of time building a career to avoid being “just a mom” only to find myself trapped by the very thing that was supposed to give me options. The push-back landed me right smack dab in the quagmire of justamomness, questioning all my life choices, talking to other women who felt just as at war with themselves as I did.⠀
It wasn’t until I found the courage to TRUST MYSELF and start building my own business that I finally began to reconcile and CELEBRATE all aspects of who I am as a mom, an entrepreneur and a woman.⠀
My program Mom Boss Business Builder is the exact formula I used to create a life I can finally feel good in. I don’t wake up dreading a commute and long office hours, I don’t feel the drudgery of diapers and carpool.. I wake up preaching and teaching all the things I’ve learned. I coach women how to build a no-stress business you LOVE and never feel trapped EVER.
