It’s All Just Feedback

Social Squares

I’M SO FED UP WITH SOCIAL MEDIA!

I know, momma…me too sometimes. But here’s the thing: to be successful online, you’ve gotta learn to play the social media game. It’s a necessary tool. The problem is that we tend to have waaaay too much of our self-worth tied up in how many likes and comments we get.

You are hard-wired to self-protect. When you don’t see the feedback you want on social, suddenly you are that awkward junior high kid with braces and acne..sitting in the lunchroom hoping some people sit with you because…sitting alone means something: it means you’re “unpopular” aka unworthy.

Did you realize all of that adolescent insecurity was being triggered every time you scroll on Instagram and Facebook?

The opposite is true too, btw. Your 14 YO self gets a little dopamine/serotonin boost from seeing all those hearts and comments. You’ve arrived at the “cool” table.

Ah, the drug of sweet acceptance.

To be successful on social, you have to see it for what it is: A BUSINESS TOOL. Yep, that’s it. The likes and comments (or lack thereof) are NOT a reflection on you as a person. It’s just feedback. .

Stay lucid to the game. Learn to play it skillfully.

“A sensational and exciting future awaits you beyond the noise of insecurities in your mind.” – Debbie Ford
