Creating REAL Content

2037 Views

Lots of experts talk about how important it is to focus on an ideal client & sure—it’s lead gen 101: why spend time trying to reach EVERYONE when your results will be much better by honing your message to speak to your niche?⠀

But target marketing (segmenting & focusing on a specific group) that asks you to write down boring demographics like age, state, city, gender, education, blah blah blah.. is not a very sexy way to ID your niche.⠀

Why? Because while basic demographics are a good place to start, a more powerful method to attract clients & build a following is to talk about your CORE VALUES. Dry demographic data doesn’t churn up emotion or personality about you or your audience. Follows, likes comments & PURCHASES tend to reflect someone’s core values. You want an audience that is interested in, not just your product or service, but one that shares least SOME of your deeper, more meaningful lifestyle preferences & beliefs about the world.⠀

So, how do you attract these people?

Elevate Your Content out of the Superficial IG Noise. Gone are the days of smiley face emojis & cute beach pics #blessed. Try talking about some real shit. Life shit. No one’s situation is truly made better by another sunset photo & happy dog in sunglasses.⠀

Talk About Your Journey. What do you want deep down? What are some BIG aspirations for your life? Does it feel hard? Share your process, your struggles, your stories & successes. Let us see your process. Perfect is boring, so set down your armor & be genuine.⠀

Share Your Personal Values. Why do you do what you do? What do you hold to be TRUE? Talk candidly about your why. Talk about how you found your why. You don’t have to be all super vulnerable & dramatic, but DO be REAL. Be yourself, & speak from your heart. When you actively share with people the things that you believe in, you’ll attract those who relate & there’s an automatic feeling of connection.⠀

My THING is business coaching (& motherhood & yoga). But my VALUES are things like—clarity, love, personal growth & a sense of big contribution. Where those 2 things overlap is my NICHE.⠀

“Sometimes, being true to yourself means changing your mind. Self changes, and you follow.”

So, what are YOUR core values? Do we share any? Let me know here!

Jessica Depew

I'm Jess. I'm an attorney, writer, CEO, yoga teacher and a heart-centered mom of three. I'm dedicated to helping you grow your business alongside your family and be the person you most want to be. If you're curious about my background and how I came to do what I do, here's the riveting story (get your popcorn ready)... I'm a born and raised Texas girl (hook 'em!) bred with equal parts no-nonsense discipline and sweet southern charm. I'm a preacher's kid and an obsessive self-development junkie who spends time reading, teaching, writing and coaching heart-centered business women in building their online empires. Ironically, I try to spend as much time offline as possible. I love chick-fil-a waffle fries and I can rap every word of "Ice, Ice Baby" on demand. I've owned and helped run multiple businesses over the past 20 years—law firms, yoga studios, tech companies and cyber forensic startups—just to name a few. I'm honored to have been named one of Southeast TX's "Top 40 Entrepreneurs Under 40" and my 12 YO has assured me that I'm "legit pretty cool for a mom". Through years of teaching and coaching women in business, leading retreats around the world and creating life-changing programs and courses, I help women like you dream big, clear mental-emotional blocks and finally take action that creates results.
