HOW TO HIRE A BUSINESS COACH

I’VE DONE IT ALL—Certifications, Masterminds, 1:1 Coaching, Courses, Retreats…you name it-I’ve done it. There’s a lot of great info out there but there’s also a point when your mind starts to get saturated with all the advice& tips& tactics.

I believe in being a lifetime learner but I also recognize there comes a time when more information is NOT going to help. So what’s a girl to do? How do you take care that the next investment is the right one& not just more of the same regurgitated advice?

1️⃣Take a minute.Taking action is great and you DEFINITELY want to be one of the do-ers BUT don’t swipe your card or jump into the first shiny program that promises to ease your pain. That tendency to rush is often born out of a feeling of desperation&lack. Sleep on it, meditate on it..breathe and be patient. If its truly meant for you it will still be there tomorrow.

2️⃣Interview your mentor. Every coach should offer a free discovery call. The call is to connect and see if the 2 of you are a good team..because that’s what a coaching relationship ultimately is.Does the person have a track record of happy clients? Do they answer questions intelligently? Do they legitimately seem to CARE ABOUT YOU and YOUR CHALLENGES? If you can answer those 3 questions with a YES then you’re probably in good hands.

3️⃣Don’t be cheap. There’s a difference between not having the money & being nervous about spending it. If you’re truly strapped for cash don’t waste the coaches time with an hour-long call. They aren’t going to take you on and teach you everything they know for free (at least the good ones aren’t). But if you’ve invested money in the past and had bad results or feel hesitant about spending, that’s different & quite normal. Bring it up, get it out in the open& give them an opportunity to speak to your concerns.

Do you doubt them? Or do you doubt YOURSELF? Money is just money. You’re going to spend it somewhere. Usually there’s a deeper emotion at play.

If you want to grow your biz in 2020 you’re going to need good coaching. Be smart, be intentional and don’t hesitate to reach out. Today I challenge you to take a few minutes and  ask what is the next right step for me?

Message me to book a call. 2 spaces left in my VIP coaching.

Jessica Depew

I'm Jess. I'm an attorney, writer, CEO, yoga teacher and a heart-centered mom of three. I'm dedicated to helping you grow your business alongside your family and be the person you most want to be. If you're curious about my background and how I came to do what I do, here's the riveting story (get your popcorn ready)... I'm a born and raised Texas girl (hook 'em!) bred with equal parts no-nonsense discipline and sweet southern charm. I'm a preacher's kid and an obsessive self-development junkie who spends time reading, teaching, writing and coaching heart-centered business women in building their online empires. Ironically, I try to spend as much time offline as possible. I love chick-fil-a waffle fries and I can rap every word of "Ice, Ice Baby" on demand. I've owned and helped run multiple businesses over the past 20 years—law firms, yoga studios, tech companies and cyber forensic startups—just to name a few. I'm honored to have been named one of Southeast TX's "Top 40 Entrepreneurs Under 40" and my 12 YO has assured me that I'm "legit pretty cool for a mom". Through years of teaching and coaching women in business, leading retreats around the world and creating life-changing programs and courses, I help women like you dream big, clear mental-emotional blocks and finally take action that creates results.
