3 Ways to Supercharge Your Online Business

There’s something all of us online business owners have in common: We started our businesses because we had a passion. There’s something we love to do, create, or make. And sharing it with people who will value it and benefit from it? Best feeling in the world.

If only building a successful business were that easy though, huh? Figuring out what it takes to turn your dreams of a passion-fueled empire into reality can be HARD. But through trial and error, and a heck of a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, I’ve learned the keys to building a thriving business – and, having fun doing it. 

1. Perfect Your Branding

Your branding is huge when it comes to your business’ success. Of course, your values and what you bring to the table for the people you serve need to be on point. But if the branding behind how you share your business with your audience isn’t done right, your target customers might never hear about it. 

You can share the prettiest Instagram posts and Reels that get all the likes, but without thoughtful and strategic branding, followers won’t convert to customers. You’ll end up floating out in the social media abyss, plugging away at creating content with no bottom line.

So, how can you make sure that you’re putting your business out there and getting it the attention it deserves?

Remember that your branding should resonate with the people you want to work with. Your messaging, your colors, even your fonts, all stir up emotions in your audience. When you understand who your perfect person is (you know, that ideal customer who will be jumping up and down over your business), you can tailor your branding to them.

Take the time to learn about your target audience. Instagram is a treasure trove of info on your target audience. They’re right there in the palm of your hand, showing you what they want to hear and know more about. Take note! 

From there, you can customize everything in your business’ branding to highlight how you are the solution they’ve been dying to find and appeal to them at the same time. 

From your Instagram profile to the content you share on your feed, in Stories and Reels, branding your business the right way will have your ideal customers saying sign. me. up.

2. Fix That Mindset

Look, there are enough haters in the world. Don’t be one in your own head.

I get it. I get down on myself from time to time like anyone else. Sometimes those snarky, sabotaging thoughts pop up:

“There’s too much competition.”

“That sounds stupid.”

“So and so’s already doing this.”

That scarcity mindset, or thinking there’s only so much success to be had, is enough to keep even the hardest working, powerhouse business owners from growing and taking their businesses to the next level. 

Getting out of that way of thinking, that there aren’t enough resources and good juju to go around, is key to supercharging your online business. Learn how to start thinking with a mindset that there is enough for everyone and believe that you can get what you want out of life; this changes everything.

Think about it. If you go to a family barbeque and your aunt brings a small dish of her aahhmazing pie, you’re not going to go for the whole thing, right? No. You’ll take a small piece. Not because you don’t want to go hog wild on that pie. But because you know there’s only so much for everyone. 

Now, what if you found out there were an endless TON of pies in the kitchen, way more than what anyone at this barbecue could eat? You’d probably help yourself to as much as your heart desired, right? Instead of having just a little and wishing for more, you’d go after what you wanted.

It’s time to start thinking about life like that pie-palooza. The only limits on what we can achieve are the ones we create for ourselves. You don’t have to stop yourself short at one small slice of something amazing. There’s a whole kitchen waiting for you.

3. Master Your Money

Do you have a firm grasp on your money? I don’t mean how much you have in your bank account. I’m talking about what you need your business to make in order for you to live. It might sound like a pretty basic concept, but it’d blow your mind to hear how many online business owners don’t have their money under control.

Before you can make just about any decision in your business (at least, any good decision), you need to know what your financial goals are, and what it’s going to take to make them happen. 

If your products and services aren’t bringing in enough for you to pay the bills and live the life you want, this business you’ve poured your heart into isn’t going to make it in the long run.

Start by getting crystal clear on what you need to live. Then break down your revenue, expenses, and profit. Are things moving in the right direction, or do you need to tune things up? 

The first place to make some changes is often your rates. People get so scared about raising their prices, and understandably so! Between worrying about losing clients and customers, and those awful moments of self-doubt (“Am I worth this much?), raising your prices can be nerve-wracking. But if the value of what you’re doing isn’t matched by the right pricing, it won’t be long before that revenue, expenses, and profit picture isn’t looking too pretty.

It’s important to think, too, about how to engage and keep delighting your customers and clients after their initial investment with you. Keep tabs on their needs and think about how you can keep serving and supporting them after that first project or experience with you. 

Do you have other courses, services, or offerings that will benefit them? Keeping current customers as paying customers is key to maintaining and building your online business.
